PLAN FOR THE CHILDREN, NOT THE PARENTS
Hepatitis be is an adjuvanted vaccine that is solicited to be administered within 48 hours of birth of a newborn. Like eye ointment, there are measures that can and are taken prior to delivery to ensure that the mother does not have Hepatitis B. Considering the determinative measures available we feel the administration of the hepatitis B vaccine is unnecessary.
The purpose of administering eye ointment at birth is to prevent blindness that comes from sexually transmitted disease. Considering there are methods to check women for these STDs prior to birth, we feel the administration of the ointment poses more risks than benefits.
The first medical intervention that takes place after a child is born is traditionally the clamping and cutting of the umbilical cord. When you consider the placenta is the source of nutrients for the newborn for 10 months while developing, it doesn't make much sense to cut off that supply the moment the child is born. There are vital brain stem cells and blood supply that is coming from the placenta. We recommend performing a “Lotus Birth” if possible. A Lotus Birth is when the umbilical cord is not cut and you allow it to separate on its own. In the event a Lotus Birth is not possible, allow as much time as possible before clamping and cutting the umbilical cord. Even when there is no pulsation and the cord appears white blood supply and stems cells are still being transmitted into your newborn.
Vitamin K is administered as a preventative measure due to less than 1% of children that experience intracranial hemorrhaging while passing through the vaginal canal. Vitamin K is not produced by a baby to allow for the free flow of brain stem cells and blood supply that is coming from the placenta after birth. Vitamin K is transmitted through breast milk and newborns begin to produce it around 6 weeks.
The purpose of the I/V is primarily to ensure the woman maintains hydration throughout labor. In the event of an emergency the I/V can be used for other medical intervention. While we suggest not using an I/V at all we certainly understand the security associated with having an “open I/V”.
