what inspired Planned Childhood?

Planned Childhood is an organization that was founded by Anthony Williams, in 2017, prior to experiencing the birth of his first child. What was supposed to be one of the greatest experiences in a persons life, having their first child, was instead one of the most sleepless and stressful of his life. During an OBGYN visit at CareNet, in Schenectady, NY, Anthony and the mother of his first child wanted to opt out of a recommended flu shot. After voicing their objection the two were told by a supporting nurse, "your child will die if she does not get the flu shot, his immune system will not be strong enough". Ill-equipped to articulate a response the two left the practice. With every hour of research in addition to his faith in the process of our creation Anthony's confidence in his decision grew stronger. At the time NY had a mandatory Vitamin K Shot law that required him to find another state for them to have their first child, Vermont.

While Vermont did not have laws requiring participation in medical intervention they were certainly not without attempted coercion. The delivering Dr John M Mclellan MD respected our autonomy and did not object to any of our birth plan, but the supporting members of the staff were persistent in challenging our decisions. Anthony recognized he is no anomaly and that most people face this type of pressure when attempting to object to any traditional medical practice pertaining to child birth. This reality compelled him to create an environment for parents to find information that is not solicited by pediatricians or OGBYNs, a place that you can plan for your child's birth. It is important parents are aware of their rights and what the actual laws are opposed to a traditional procedure.

OUR CHILDREN

We are blessed to have been in a position to protect our children from the side effects of all medical intervention. None of our children have ever visited an Emergency room let alone a pediatrician. We share this information to empower parents to make the most informed decisions possible. You will be faced with a tremendous amount of pressure, not a information. The goal is to equip yourself with the information to make the best decisions for your child.
